 The Progress stages of 'Cleo'

Step one:

Monochrome commenced

• Raw umber and Titanium white

Note the intricate drawing that forms the base for this painting

 Step two:

Monochrome completed

 Step three:

First glaze layer added to background

• pink

 Step four:

First glaze layer added to forground

 Step five:

Second glaze layer added to background

First layer of greens to lower band and headpiece

Another glaze layer added to hair

Step six:

• Third glaze layer added to background to dull the pink
• More green glaze added to headpiece and lower band
• Another glaze layer added to hair defining the darker areas
