Development automation
tools
These are some of our online learning materials
development tools. They help us to finish
our projects on time and on budget and to
leave our clients with materials that are
easy to maintain. |

|
AutoBuilder

|
We write the
training storyboard straight into MS
Word. It's
an easy and reliable way to print, update
and sign off that everyone's used to.
The difference is that we only need to
click
the AutoBuilder
button and
the online materials are automatically
generated as you watch - no more copying
and pasting.
AutoBuilder handles
text, graphics, video, sound and animations
- all tailored
specially for your training project.
The WWW version is well on its way
too.

ScreenScraper
 |
Tailored to almost any application
- Windows or DOS, it automatically
grabs your system screen image and
field details. From them, we can build
a complete virtual copy of your system
or just
the screens we need to teach what you
want taught.
We can use the same method for preliminary
design, useability testing or sales
promotions.

|
ScreenBuilder
 |
This is the other side of the ScreenScraper.
When we feed it the details we've captured,
it
automatically builds a
complete copy of system screens - dialogues,
fields & buttons etc. for training
or demonstration purposes. We
can also feed in the system data
straight from the programmers (if
they'll
give it to us!) so we don't waste time
or risk missing late changes. It all
adds up to being able to create our
training materials as late as possible
(ALAP) in the development cycle to
minimise rework.

Voice-over tools
 |
You don't need to go a to a studio
- we have all the audio and video gear
you need for multimedia production.
Our voice-over tools
mean we can record the script straight
off the screen
onto the page - no logging,
cropping or extra programming required. Although video is more complex and
requires quite a team, we also have
ways to speed up getting video into
our training when it's needed.
|
| |
|
Multiple case studies

|
We always minimise the amount of hard
coding in our training materials. Customer
details, for instance, are often stored
in a separate file so
we can easily duplicate case studies
by simply copying and pasting. Then
it's an easy matter to change names,
addresses etc. to add lots of
practice for learners. |
| |
|
Storyboard regenerator
 |
With our own materials, you never have
to edit in anything but Word but we've
often had to pick up after other teams
so we've developed ways to dump the text
from existing materials. This can be
printed out for review and editing and,
if
the job's big enough,
we'll even automate putting the changes
back in!
For platform or delivery conversions,
we can produce a technical storyboard
with all text, media, links, navigation
and logic listed.

Walkthrough recorder
 |
Once we have our
simulated system, we can use the Walkthrough
recorder
to record exactly what we want the
users to do - choose a Menu item, display
a screen, fill in some fields and click
the Save button. Then we can use this
recording (with different case studies)
to:
- show users what
to do
- let them try doing it with guidance
- let them practice doing it
- test them on it.
- the accurate walkthrough can even
be used to automatically
generate your
user procedures!
